The Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront is set to open Tuesday, Aug. 9. The new 135-room hotel is located in the heart of downtown Reno at 1 Ballpark Lane, across from Greater Nevada Field.

“With its central location we expect to draw downtown business travelers, leisure travelers, baseball fans and travelers associated with the University of Nevada and the two nearby hospitals,” Amy Preston, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott, said in a recent press release.

Hotel rates begin at $129 per night on weekends and $159 per night during the week.

The hotel is owned by Basin Street Properties, a real estate investment company headquartered in Reno. It will operate as a Marriott franchise managed by Interstate Hotels and Resorts of Arlington, Va.

Basin Street Properties broke ground on the hotel back in early 2015. Metcalf Builders, a Carson City based construction company, served as the contractor on the project.

“Our construction partner Metcalf Builders has been going the extra mile to get the hotel completed and enable the Marriott team to get onto the property and start training,” Preston said in a press release.

The Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront has already hired 35 employees in preparation for the August opening. The hotel is the first Marriott hotel to open in downtown Reno.

“Not only with another addition of a non-smoking, non-gaming hotel, we will be making history when we open our doors as the first Marriott hotel in downtown Reno,” said Christina Parmele, director of sales and marketing at the Courtyard, in an email. “The Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront brings a modern refreshing look to the business traveler.”

According to Parmele, they have already receiving a lot of interest and reservations for the new hotel.

The four-story hotel features a covered outdoor swimming pool, an outdoor fire pit offering views of the Truckee River, fitness center and guest laundry and offers 875 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 50 people. It also features a business library with computers for the guests to use along with a printer and separate computer stations dedicated solely to printing airline boarding passes and checking flight status.

The hotel’s lobby contains an eatery called The Bistro, which offers breakfast and dinner, brews Starbucks coffee and serves a full bar in the evening. Furthermore, the hotel boasts many high-tech amenities such as free high-speed wired and wireless Internet, 49-inch flat screen smart TV’s along with spacious and functional workspaces with connectivity hubs and multiple USB outlets.

Courtyard by Marriott is working to partner with local businesses, casinos and other new hotels in downtown Reno such as the Whitney Peak and Marriott Renaissance, formally the Siena Hotel, which is scheduled to open in early 2017. They have also partnered with the University of Nevada, Reno, are a member of the Riverwalk Merchants Association and will be participating in the upcoming Raise the River event.

“It’s an exciting time to be in downtown Reno with the recent redevelopment and new businesses moving in,” Preston said in a press release. “We have a great team in place at the property and we look forward to being a part of Downtown Reno’s resurgence.”

The hotel plans to hold an official grand opening in mid-September.
