Carson City School District’s Bandorama is Feb. 25

Carson City band students will come together Thursday, Feb. 25, to play in an all-district concert.

Bandorama, held in the Carson High School gym, will feature all band students from fifth- to 12th-grades who are in the Carson City School District band program. This 24-year-old event will have an estimated 500 students participating, said Nicole Melsheimer, Fritsch Elementary music director.

“It is impressive with what these kids are doing with band,” Melsheimer said. “It is great to have a community event that supports music in our schools.”

The elementary, middle and high school will all perform individual songs and then all three levels will perform together. Many of the schools have started practicing individually for the event once they returned from winter break, and they are planning a full band practice the morning of the show. Melsheimer said this event is good for students to come together and expand their social circles.

“I think it is exciting to see the different schools all working together to achieve a common goal,” Melsheimer said. “And they get a chance to meet kids from different sites.”

The concert is free to the public, and begins at 7 p.m. at the high school.
