Nevada Appeal at 150: Oct. 26, 1972: First female FBI agents graduate

The FBI Academy has graduated its first two female FBI agents, who were en route today to assignments in Omaha, Neb., and St. Louis.

Agents Susan L. Roley, 25, and Joanne E. Pierce, 31, will be equipped like all other agents with a .38-caliber pistols and will earn the basic starting annual salary of $12,151, plus guaranteed overtime of $3,036.

Roley is a former Marine Corps lieutenant and Pierce was a Roman Catholic nun for the Sisters of Mercy from 1959 to 1970.
