Religion briefs: Interfaith Earth Care program planned in Carson City

Interfaith Earth Care program planned

The first of four Interfaith Earth Care programs is slated from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in the social hall at First United Methodist Church.

Interfaith groups involved in the program include: St. Teresa’s Catholic Community, First United Methodist Church, Dharma Zephyr Insight Meditation Community and Temple Bat Yam of Lake Tahoe. The theme is “Everything is Connected.” Each program will combine study and breakout sessions.

The program on Feb. 4 will open with time for centering on the evening’s program. The focus of this first session will be on sharing of interfaith documents on the care of the environment.

The second program on March 3 will involve discerning environmental issues for the community and world at large. The session features guest speakers and small-group discussions.

The third program on April 7 will focus on how individuals and communities can impact the care of the earth. Guest speakers will share their experiences in taking various environmental actions.

The final program on May 5 features individuals sharing what’s involved in making a commitment to act on environmental concerns. Individuals will share their personal actions and goals.
