Carson High School teacher and head baseball coach Bryan Manoukian was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Sunday morning.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Manoukian, 38, of Sparks, was arrested at 4:40 a.m. after deputies initiated a traffic stop for failure to maintain a lane and improper lane change on Pyramid Highway near the intersection of Eagle Canyon in Spanish Springs.

The high school biology and forensics teacher was booked on a charge of DUI-alcohol first offense.

Manoukian didn’t respond to a Nevada Appeal request for comment.

The Carson City School District is investigating. Superintendent Richard Stokes said they were awaiting information from the police, before deciding a course of action.

“We do expect all of our teachers to be sensitive to their position and live in a way that they are law-abiding citizens.”
