The popcorn stand

A fixture of the Carson City community is showing her art at the Carson City Visitors Bureau through July.

Patricia Holub, who helped start the Brewery Arts Center in 1975, has about 10 paintings, mostly “en plein air” landscapes in oil and watercolor, on display.

The 92-year-old first picked up a brush in 1970. A Carson City resident since 1958, she paints mostly landscapes of area sites.

“I love painting Virginia City, that’s a fun place to go and paint,” she said.

When she’s not in front of her easel, Holub keeps busy in several local organizations. She is an active member of two bridge clubs, as well as the Mark Twain Garden Club, VA Auxiliary’s Carson City chapter, Leisure Hour Club, Nevada Artists Association in addition to Philanthropic Educational Organization, a nonprofit that supports women’s education.

Holub’s secret to staying energized — “Keep going! Just keep moving!”

The Visitors Bureau is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 716 N. Carson St.
