Services set for Carson residents killed in Monitor Pass collision

Markleeville — A celebration of life is 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at Fuji Park for a couple killed in a motorcycle wreck on Monitor Pass.

Carson City residents John Farell Jurosovich and Lori Jean LeBlanc were identified by the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office as the two people killed on Sunday.

Undersheriff Spencer Case confirmed the couple’s identities on Thursday.

Jurosovich, 62, and LeBlanc, 53, were on Highway 89 when the Harley Davidson they were riding crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the couple was riding northbound on Highway 89 near Monitor Pass at about 1:25 p.m.

A Nissan Versa and a Ford Escape were traveling in the opposite direction when the Harley crossed the centerline into the path of the Versa.

The Harley hit both the front of the Versa and the Escape.

The occupants of the Versa received minor injuries in the wreck.

Highway 89 was closed for three hours, and reopened at about 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

LeBlanc leaves behind a son, Cory Walker. A funeral will be held in Texas, according to the family’s go fund me page.

Jurosovich leaves behind two sons, Dylan and Connor.

Jurosovich was married to native Nevadan and Douglas High School graduate Jacqueline Brooks, who died in 2008.

Friends and families have established Gofundme pages for both.
