Alsy Brinkmeyer has been named general manager of Northern Nevada Business Weekly.

Brinkmeyer has previously served in various roles for NNBW’s parent company, Swift Communications and its subsidiary, Sierra Nevada Media Group for nearly two decades in Oregon and Nevada.

Brinkmeyer admits it was a goal of hers to one day head up NNBW ever since she moved to the region in 2011. When the opportunity presented itself it was something she couldn’t turn down.

“When I first came to northern Nevada five year ago, I started reading the Northern Nevada Business Weekly, and it turned into my favorite publication,” Brinkmeyer said.

She’s also eager to get started expanding on the footprint NNBW has established in the region.

“Reno is a really exciting place to be right now,” she said. “There’s a great energy in our business community, and I want to be a part of it. It’s a good time to call northern Nevada home.”

Brinkmeyer first came to northern Nevada in 2011 as regional classified advertising director for Swift’s subsidiary, Sierra Nevada Media Group’s centralized classified advertising call center.

In 2014, Brinkmeyer was named general manager of the Big Nickel publication, headquartered in Reno. She will continue to perform that role along with serving as general manager of Swift publications Healthy Beginnings and NNBW.

Brinkmeyer succeeds Jim Arden as general manager of NNBW. He was promoted to finance director for Swift and will primarily oversee the company’s PressWorks and Swift Digital initiatives.

“It’s been an honor to lead the NNBW over the last two years and to get to know those in the business community leading northern Nevada into the future,” Arden said. “We’ve accomplished several goals we set for ourselves and the team has worked to position the NNBW for great things to come. Alsy is the right person to take the NNBW into the future, and under her leadership I know it will reach new heights. I’m looking forward to helping Alsy in her transition, and Swift Communications in my new role working with the executive team on strategic growth initiatives.”

Brinkmeyer was born in Washington state and raised in Roseburg, Ore., and began working at Swift in 1998 for her hometown newspaper, The News-Review. Two years later she was handling some of the News-Review’s largest local advertising accounts as a retail account manager. In 2006 she was promoted to manager of the newspapers’ classified call center and later named classified advertising manager. She eventually was offered the position at SNMG in Carson City and relocated to the Silver State.

Brinkmeyer recently graduated from Western Nevada College in Carson City and is currently a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she is pursuing a major in communication studies and a minor in business administration. She now resides in Reno.

Brinkmeyer also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, a SMART reader in children’s reading program, the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce marketing board and various other professional and community roles.
