Lindsay Chichester, Carson City extension educator for the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is seeking volunteers.

Chichester said they are looking for adults to share their knowledge with 4-H youth ages 9-19. Area adults can choose to spend a few hours, a day, a week, or a month giving a demonstration, leading a 4-H club or teaching our teens leadership skills. Cooperative Extension staff will help prepare volunteers for working with the age group they feel most comfortable with: Juniors, 9-10, Intermediates, 11-13, or Seniors, 14-19.

Volunteers can choose what they teach and how much time they spend leading their groups. They can spend a club meeting or two teaching about puppetry, sewing, preparing a meal, fishing or other topics.

To schedule an appointment to talk about the abilities you would like to share, call 775-887-2252.

4-H is a youth program for ages 5-19 offered by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. In addition to suggested project areas above, Carson City/Storey County 4-H offers cloverbuds (ages 5-9), cooking, shooting sports, robotics and more.

If you have a few hours a week or a month, think about helping someone else by volunteering.

The Nevada Appeal runs the Volunteer Connection on Sundays which features a list of organizations seeking volunteers. If you want to volunteer, call RVSP’s contact Lauren at 775-687-4680, ext. 6 or Ljones@nvrsvp.com.
