Carson courts installing electronic jury system

Carson District Courts are using a state grant to implement an electronic jury management system.

What that means is potential jurors are going to be able to go online or use an interactive voice system to obtain information about court dates or ask to be excused, disqualified or deferred. They will be able to request to be notified by phone, text or email for their jury reporting date.

Judges Todd Russell and James Wilson said they understand a jury summons isn’t always a popular notice, but it’s an essential civic jury. The new system from Courthouse Technologies will provide the community with greater flexibility to perform jury service.

The new system is being paid for by a $43,245 Nevada Supreme Court grant.
