Faith & Insight: Trump or Clinton?

Many Americans believe our country’s answers lie with a new president. If you chose the one you like, then justice, fairness and hope is going to be restored to our nation. One of the candidates says he’s going to “make America great again,” and the other says she’s “fighting for us.” Both of them think they are going to give Americans hope. There’s no hope ever found in a president. They are sinners and self-centered and need a savior.

Hope for America is only found in Jesus Christ. Hope for Nevada is only found in Jesus Christ. Hope for Carson City is only found in Jesus Christ. Hope for your life is only found in Jesus Christ.

In 1 Peter 1:3, we read, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

God’s aim in regenerating sinners is to give them a living hope. No Trump or Clinton will give America any hope. People need to be born again. People are spiritually dead and need to be made spiritually alive. No Clinton or Trump will ever bring life to America.

Maybe your life is getting you down? You feel cast down because of the political season and the political fighting. The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 42:5, “Why are you cast down and why is the turmoil within you? Hope in God.”

Do not put your hope in a president. Do not put your hope in people. Do not put your hope in Clinton or Trump. Put your hope in God.

On Wednesday, March 30 at noon at the Capital Amphitheater thousands of people who are putting their hope in God are going to gather to pray for America. They want to put their hope in God. Franklin Graham’s Decision America Tour will lead the prayer gathering. Would you make an effort to join them? Would you be counted as one whose hope is in God?
