Rosseter Hart appointed to Carson City School Board

The Carson City School Board appointed its new member Tuesday night.

Susan Rosseter Hart was voted as the new School Board trustee for District 6. The seat has been vacant since the end of March when the former trustee Deonne Contine resigned from the position.

The board held interviews for the three candidates- Hart, Marena Works and Julie Oliver during its meeting Tuesday night. Most of the trustees said they were looking for a candidate who was objective and would work hard for the district.

“I just want to say that I respect and admire anyone who wants to serve on the school board,” said trustee Steven Reynolds.

Hart, a Carson City resident for 13 years, has experience in financial management for several non-profit and government agencies around Northern Nevada, which allowed her the experience to sit on a variety of boards and advisory committees.

She said her interests with nutrition, education and community vibrancy are what will make her a good trustee.

“I want to serve because I can be feeding the community with any experience that I can bring,” Hart said. “And I am at a stage in my life where I want to be of use to the community,” she added.

The boundaries for District 6 are: south of Kings Canyon Road, southwest Highway 395 to Colorado Street, southeast along Silver Sage and Sean Drives, southwest along Baker Drive to Koontz Lane, southwest along Bigelow to Clearview Drives, southwest along Edmonds Drive, to Snyder Avenue, and to the Douglas County line.
