Methodist Church: Rev. Warren Nims is the hardest working clergyman. He is a teamster, hauling rock from the quarry, and he helps along with workmen in rough labor at the church. It will be the neatest and most substantial church in Nevada when completed.

Apache: Jim Fair’s scheme to remove the Apaches to an island has raised general laugh. According to the Stockton Mail, the scheme is more picturesque than sensible and is one that might have been expected to be suggested by the most incurable ignoramus and consummate ass to be found in either branch of the National Legislature.

110 Years Ago

Horrible death: Otis T. Kendall passed through this city on his way to Walley Springs. He rented a room near the bathhouse and retired for the night. He went to the steam bath and was unable to get out after he locked the door. Apparently the steam bewildered him, and he was unable to find his way out. He died a horrible death. The hot steam comes up through the slats in the floor. Since the California earthquake, steam is about 15 degrees hotter than it was previously.

Rambler by West Davis: What happened to Mayor Lind’s “Cleanup Week?” An Army sign the wind blew down lies in the dust, debris from the Leisure Hour Club fire is strewn nearby and lots and corners are unsightly, to say the least.
