Woman dead after being hit at Stewart and Robinson streets in Carson City

A 61-year-old woman was killed Thursday night while crossing the street at Stewart and Robinson streets around 5:45 p.m.

According to witnesses she was outside of the crosswalk markings when a vehicle turning onto Stewart Street hit her, according to Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The area of the accident is well lit and the intersection traffic controlled by a signal device.

Traffic was  rerouted in the area during the investigation.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating. Carson City fire and Carson City Sheriff’s Office units also responded to scene.
