Registered: This is the 8th of the month. There are 11 more days, barring Sunday, in which to register the names of voters. There were, yesterday, the names of 217 persons registered in this precinct. At Empire there were 91. This makes a total of 308 registered voters in Ormsby County. We press the active men of the Union party to best themselves to get the full strength of the organization places upon the poll books.

Fred W. Sharon and F.G. Newlands, trustees of the estate of the late William Sharon, have applied to the Probate Court for a partial distribution of the estate of the late Dr. Frederick Zelie. The deceased left a snuff box studded with diamonds to Mr. Sharon, which at the time of his death was in his possession in Renthingen, Wurtemberg. The snuff box is valued at $4,000.

A Damians, an insane Italian, made two attempts to kill himself in the county jail this afternoon. He managed to get hold of a small pocketknife and slashed himself in the neck, but failed to inflict a serious wound. He was then locked up and tried to hang himself with his trouser belt. — Humboldt Star

One of the most generous offers yet extended to the Nevada Day committee was proffered last night by Col. R.M. Easton of Carson City. The well-known capital city resident said he and his sons have made arrangements with station KOH to present a one-hour broadcast of the parade on Oct. 31.

Although tanks are rumbling along Carson City streets lately, the only revolution that’s actually brewing locally is the latest in military technology within the Nevada Department of Military. The M-60A-3 main battle tank has come to town.
