The assessable property of Ormsby County: According to the Assessor’s report for 1866, the amount of taxable property in this county is $1,670,151. The tax dues are $50,039.60. This is pretty good showing for this little county in these quiet times.

An evil eye: The people of Turlock are excited over a boy about 12 years of age, about whom fires mysteriously originate. They spring from the ceiling, the wall, and the roofs of houses in his vicinity, and although he is closely watched, he has never been detected in anything wrong. In all accounts he seems to discover the fire before anyone else.

Sam Belford last evening at the C. and C. Theater delivered an address before a large and enthusiastic audience. Every seat in the house was occupied and even standing room was at a premium, the crowd extending far out onto the sidewalk, while automobiles filled with attentive listeners filled the curb.

With tin cans rattling noisily from the back of a truck in which they were riding, an old-fashioned charivari was held last night for recently married Mr. And Mrs. Robert Shriver — the former Barbara Franks.

Several Carson City residents were angered by results presented at the Regional Transportation Commission meeting Wednesday of a third survey done on Saliman Road, which may result in land loss to some property owners.
