The City of Sparks and City of Reno will co-host a press event and gathering of community leaders at the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility on Friday at noon for the unveiling of the new cogeneration system.
Its a part of the $24.9-million energy conservation project with Ameresco, Inc., a new generator producing heat and electricity has been completed at the TMWRF plant. The cogeneration system is providing approximately 35 percent of the plant’s existing energy needs. The generator is fueled through methane gas, which is a byproduct of the sewer treatment process.
