Senator Stewart went to Candelaria on Monday and assisted in the ceremony of raising the flagstaff. He was accompanied in a special train from Hawthorne, by a large number of our citizens and there was a big time and Republican enthusiasm ran high. Mr. Stewart aroused the Candelarians by one of his electric speeches and left a solidly united party.

After a trip over the entire state on business interests, during which he has talked to hundreds of people, Henry Ritter, of the Reno Brewing company, has returned to this city an ardent Wilson advocate and Democratic supporter all down the line. He says Wilson and Pittman are a cinch.

Wilbur Yee, popular senior high school student and the son of Mr. And Mrs. Frank Yee of Carson City, was elected president of the Block “C” society at a meeting held last night. Mike McCulloch presided over the session until the new executive was selected.

The Carson City High School football field will be officially named in honor of former coach George F. McElroy in ceremonies during halftime tonight, under the direction of chairman Geno Lencioni.

Apparently upset over charges he doesn’t have much experience, Republican Assembly District 40 candidate John Paul Laxalt veered from the question on health care cost containment at a candidates night saying “he does have experience as a wage earner.”

Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
