Aflac Insurance opens new office in downtown Reno

Basin Street Properties, a prominent Northern Nevada real estate investor and developer, has signed a lease with Aflac Insurance for 7,040 square feet in its 300 East 2nd Street building in downtown Reno. “Alfac’s growth is a reflection of the broader Northern Nevada economy,” said Kevin Curtis, Regional Sales Manager, heading up the Northern Nevada regional offices in a press release. Kevin finished his 21 year Navy career at Fallon Naval Air Station and came to Aflac four years ago through the Wounded Warrior Program. “Aflac does a great job of working with veterans and provided a great opportunity to transition to the private sector and build a thriving business in a region I know and love,” said Curtis. “The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs were also invaluable in my transition from the Navy to Aflac and I’m grateful for their support.”

Aflac currently has over 40 agents in a region that spans all of Northern Nevada and a portion of Northern California. “We are excited to see Northern Nevada growing and we see a strong demand for our services as that growth continues,” said Curtis. Aflac is part of the ongoing trend of well established brands opening offices in Downtown Reno. “Aflac moving downtown supports the continuing narrative of Downtown Reno’s resurgence,” said Dave Mieding, Director of Leasing for Basin Street Properties. “To see household names like Aflac, Marriott, West Elm and Patagonia open downtown locations reinforces Downtown Reno’s upward trajectory.”

“The 300 East 2nd Street location is centrally located for our clients and gives a well-designed, professional space to excel and continue to grow,” said Curtis. “It also provides easy access to all of the downtown restaurants and activities which our staff appreciates.” 300 East 2nd Street is a 15-story tower with four floors of Class A office space totaling 136,497 square feet and 11 floors of direct-access parking totaling 977 parking stalls. 300 East 2nd Street features panoramic views of the surrounding Sierra Mountains, Truckee Meadows and Downtown Reno. Basin Street Properties owns and manages over 700,000 square feet of class A office space, hospitality, multi-family and retail in Reno and is leading the redevelopment of the Kings Inn into 3rd Street Flats. Representing Basin Street Properties was Dominic Brunetti and Scott Shanks of Dickson Commercial Group. Aflac was represented by Ian Cochran of Sperry Van Ness.
