Reno – The Barracuda Championship announced that it will match Chris Stroud’s $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support the millions of people affected by Hurricane Harvey.
“The PGA TOUR has an initiative called Together, anything’s possible and that couldn’t be more true than what we are seeing from Chris Stroud and so many others as they come together to support those impacted by Hurricane Harvey,” said Tournament Director Chris Hoff. “Giving Back is at the heart of what every PGA TOUR tournament is about and we are humbled to support the efforts of the American Red Cross in Texas.”
Chris Stroud, winner of the 2017 Barracuda Championship, lives in Spring, Texas, about 25 miles north of downtown Houston. Stroud announced today that in addition to the $10,000 donation, he will also donate 10 percent of his winnings this week at the Dell Technologies Championship and reach out to his fellow TOUR players for their support.
“It has been really hard to focus on golf. The suffering is just unbelievable,” said Stroud. “I have a lot of faith in my fellow players. I know how generous and caring they are.”
Fans wishing to assist in the relief and recovery efforts can do so by making donations through PGA TOUR Charities’ Together, anything’s possible website, together.pgatour.com, and clicking on the red GIVE button. Additionally, fans can make donations directly through the American Red Cross by visiting www.redcross.org or by texting HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
The Barracuda Championship is an official PGA TOUR event at Montrêux Golf & Country Club in Reno. Next year's event is scheduled for July 30-August 5, 2018.
