An old pioneer: Mr. John K. Trambo, one of the pioneers of the sagebrush, has been on a visit to his Carson friends for some days past. Mr. Trambo and his family are residing at Salt Lake City, where they have, so far, managed to enjoy their Gentile proclivities unmolested by the Mormons.

Will there be war? There is a big scare in Europe over the feeling that before long, France and Germany will lock horns in a deadly struggle. Bismarck seems to be gradually losing prestige in Germany and he can only regain it by involving Germany in a war with France.

Boosting for Yerington: Bill Ellis, formerly of Carson, but now connected with the Yerington Times, blew into town last evening and at once began the publicity campaign of boosting Yerington and its surrounding territory, telling of the prosperous times there and its rosy future. Bill is right, Yerington is coming to the front, and it needs just what Carson and the state needs — publicity.

A Walnut Creek, Calif., man scheduled to died by lethal injection here March 4 for strangling a friend in Carson City has received an unwanted stay from the Nevada Supreme Court. The high court delayed Dennis Nogue’s execution to determine if he was properly waived his right to an appeal in the murder of Eric Hemming, 19, also of Walnut Creek.
Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
