A state lottery: The Supreme Court of the United States recognizes its validity. The question of the state giving its sanction to a lottery for the purpose of raising money for an irrigation fund is the subject of some good natured fun from the Enterprise.

Rabies kill cattle: Since the beginning of February, Patrick Walsh, the Reese river rancher and stockman, has lost seven head of cattle from rabies. The steers bitten by coyotes were in the fields where hay feeding was going on. It appears that the excessive cold has driven the coyotes down from the hills (Reveille).

The governor of Nevada and the president of the United States would be urged to set aside the first Saturday before Labor Day in each year as Virginia City Day under the terms of a joint resolution.

A movie producer and several representatives of Universal Studios in Hollywood got no for an answer when they requested permission from Nevada State Prison Warden Carl Hocker to shoot part of a picture at the maximum security prison. The warden added that the prison’s desire for anonymity at this time would be shattered if the institution were exposed a Hollywood enterprise.
