It’s a relatively quiet weekend for Carson City compared to the last few weekends to begin the summer, but there’s still events going on. And Carson City will have a weekend party atmosphere during the mid-week this week when the annual Concert Under The Stars to benefit the Greenhouse Project is held on Wednesday.

Concert Under the Stars

The event has gotten so big, it has had to be moved from Adele’s to the Brewery Arts Center for this year’s concert at 5 p.m. July 12. The show is produced by Adele’s co-owner Chef Charlie Abowd in conjuction with his lifelong production company, Captail Little Trip, and producer John Procaccini’s Chili Bop Entertainment.

This year’s show marks the 50th anniversary of Sly & the Family Stone as the Family Stone will be featured. The current band features Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and original founding members of the Sly & the Family Stone, Jerry Martini and Greg Errico, featuring Phunne Stone. Opening for Family Stone will be Lydia Pense, who also has performed rhythm and blues for more than 50 years, and her band Cold Blood.

In addition, a live auction will again be held during the event. Through the generosity of area businesses and donating citizens, the half-hour break during the show is filled with unique and one-of-a-kind offerings available for concert-goers to bid on.

Carson Tahoe Health has also become the first title sponsor of the event. Other sponsors include NVEnergy, Dick Campagni’s Auto Group, Northern Nevada Toyota Dealers, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Gold Dust West Casino and Hotel.

Bleacher/SRO tickets start at $25 and reserved seating at $45. Tickets are available online at www.carsoncitygreenhouse.org or in person at Brewery Arts Center Box Office 775-883-1976; and at the Carson City Visitors Bureau, 716 N. Carson St., 775-687-7410.
