Fatal stage accident: News arrived here yesterday morning of the killing of a lady, the serious wounding of another and the injury of several gentlemen, all passengers from California to Virginia City by the Dutch Flat route at Huffaker. The overturning happened on the running of one of the wheels into a chuck hole, breaking the fore ax tee.

The city-county zoning code is in for some big changes if the two governing bodies decide to take the advice of planners and attorneys. Inconsistencies and irregularities in the zoning laws have contributed recently to confusion on the Ormsby County Regional Planning Commission. Dist. Att Bob List told the planners the ordinance could generally use some cleaning up.

30 Years Ago

Some 300 people evacuated from Woodfords, Calif., were back in their homes today as authorities continue their investigation of a timber and brush fire that caused at least $5 million in damaged and destroyed 24 homes in the “Acorn” fire.

Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
