Pedestrian killed in collision in Fernley

A juvenile pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on Monday in Fernley.

At about 6:15 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were called to US50A/16LY near Pioneer Crossing for a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation indicates a white 2013 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was traveling westbound when the vehicle struck a juvenile pedestrian in the roadway.

The juvenile pedestrian was transported to a Reno hospital where he died. The cause and details of the collision are still under investigation.

NHP and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office are investigating. It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved.
