SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: No ‘Butts’ about it, a good cause in Carson City

The Nevada Appeal’s Silver Dollars & Wooden Nickels feature recognizes achievements from the capital region and, when warranted, points out other acts that missed the mark.

SILVER DOLLAR: Congratulations to Lisa Hutchison for being named the principal at Bordewich-Bray Elementary School and to Dr. Jennifer Ward-DeJoseph for being named principal at Fremont Elementary. And to Karen Simms for her service as principal at Bordewich-Bray and Casey Gilles for her service as principal at Fremont.

SILVER DOLLAR: Congratulations to 60 members of the Carson High Concert Choir for being selected to participate in the Festival of Gold in Los Angeles. The accomplishment means the group has been ranked above the 90 percentile range to perform with top ensembles across the western region.

SILVER DOLLAR: Congratulations to Carson High’s Tez Allen, who has signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball at Southern Oregon.

SILVER DOLLAR: To high school freshman Spencer Flanders and Western Nevada College students for their efforts in preventing tobacco related illnesses and their efforts for promoting National Kick Butts Day last Wednesday.
