Expensive talk: Legislature has been in session one week. The usual daily cost of sessions, eight thousand dollars, will have accrued against the state by today. The Legislature was gotten together for no other purpose than to get the state out of a very bad scrape. Let that purpose be accomplished. Money — and not words is what is wanted.

All sorts: The old rotten fence around the Capitol building has been torn down.

The jackrabbits in this county are beginning to eat alfalfa as it comes up, and the bark of young fruit trees.

Publication difficulties: Since the big flood the work of getting out the Appeal is attended with enough difficulties to send men to the nearest asylum. The Appeal, once out of electricity, was obliged to resort to hand composition and a job press. The following day the power was on and off, and one compositor in his heated mental condition took refuge in strong drink ...

Mansion open house: Gov. and Mrs. Vail Pittman will be “at home” to the citizens of Carson City on March 29. They would like to show their sincere appreciation for the splendid efforts put forth by the residents to make the inaugural ball such a brilliant success.
