Attorneys from Parsons Behle & Latimer PLC of Reno and Conti Fenn & Lawrence LLC of Baltimore, Md. obtained significant rulings for Bartech Systems International, Inc. in a copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secret lawsuit before the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. In the rulings, U.S. District Court Judge Miranda Du found that Vincent Tessier, a former Bartech employee, copied and misappropriated Bartech’s trade secrets and copyright protected computer code in developing ABreez by Mobile Simple, a competing minibar management solution. Based on this, Judge Du granted partial summary judgment in favor of Bartech and ordered the defendants to cease offering the portion of the ABreez software that communicates with hotel’s property management systems. Judge Du issued her rulings on March 23, 2017.
Bartech’s legal team is led by Gregory T. Lawrence of CFL, who successfully argued the matter in court, along with Michael R. Kealy of PB&L. “Bartech invests heavily in its industry leading technology, and we are pleased the court vindicated Bartech’s intellectual property rights by these rulings,” said Mr. Lawrence.
The case is titled Bartech Systems International, Inc. v. Mobile Simple Solutions, Inc., Case No. 2:15-cv-02422-MMD-NJK.
