Fallon’s Frey Ranch to be featured on Booze Traveler

Frey Ranch, Nevada’s only estate distillery and winery, will be featured on Travel Channel’s TV show, Booze Traveler on Monday, April 3 at 10 p.m. PT. Following a visit to the ranch in September 2016, host Jack Maxwell met with owners Colby and Ashley Frey to taste and learn about the Frey Ranch products.

Focused on finding the world’s most interesting cocktail, Maxwell travels the world searching for new spirits and meeting the people who craft and drink them. On a whirlwind tour of Nevada’s “Wild West,” Maxwell spent an afternoon in Fallon, touring Frey Ranch, drinking the spirits and learning about the From Ground to Glass operation. On a tour of the property, owner and operator, Colby Frey showed Maxwell the centerpiece of the distillery — a one-of-a-kind, custom-made Vendome still that can produce 10,000 cases of spirits a month. Head distiller Russel Wedlake also spoke with Maxwell in between tastings about the process of creating the different spirits that bear the Frey name.

“We can’t even begin to express how excited and honored we are to be featured on Booze Traveler,” said Colby Frey, who also distills and makes wine at Frey Ranch. “We loved meeting Jack Maxwell and the entire Booze Traveler crew and sharing the passion we have for our product with them. We hope that they enjoyed sampling our spirits as much as we enjoy making them.”

Open for two years, Frey Ranch currently produces vodka and gin, as well as more select spirits such as absinthe, barrel-aged gin and a series of different whiskeys that will reach maturity in 2018. Spirits such as the gin are estate products, meaning that the entire process — from the farming the crops to bottling the spirits — is done on the ranch. While the process is lengthy, it guarantees the Frey’s have total control over their spirits at every step of production and ensures that the highest quality spirits is produced every time. This perfection was showcased in 2016 when Frey Ranch Gin was awarded a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Frey Vodka also took home a Bronze medal during the same competition.

Currently, Frey Ranch spirits are available throughout Nevada, California and several other states. Frey Ranch is located in Churchill County and, in the midst of its 1,200-acre farm, sits the 4,600 square-foot distillery featuring a stillroom, tank room, barreling room, tasting room and a malt house. In addition to the custom Vendome still, there are four 5,000 gallon fermenters, one 5,000 gallon mash cooker, one 5,000 gallon beer well, one 500 gallon pot still, a 24-foot continuous still and 23-foot vodka column.
