Kiwanis to raffle medals during annual festival

Dayton’s annual event that combines entertainment, vendors, and the best pasta dishes by a slew of cooks is returning Saturday.

Dayton Township Kiwanis will be participating in the pasta cook-off and offering a limited number of raffle tickets for The Society of Medalists 128th issue bronze Fossil Collection.

Oodles of Noodles is an annual event celebrating Dayton Valley’s Italian and Chinese Heritage.

The 16th annual festival will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Old Town Dayton.

The unique collectable medal set is sculpted by Don Everhart and comes in a red leather case. It is valued at $1,200.

Only 200 tickets at $10 each are being offered and drawing will take place after all tickets are sold.

The collection includes Tyrannosaurus Rex, Deinonychus, Diplodocus, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus and Styrachosaurus. The reverse of each medal depicts the fossilized skeleton of the same creature.

The set was donated to Dayton Township Kiwanis by the Medallic Art Company, and all proceeds will support Kiwanis’ ongoing scholarship and youth programs.

To purchase tickets, visit the Kiwanis cook-off booth, or call Richard Amhrein, 775-301-6034; April Romo, 775-220-4520 or Denise Crites, 775-443-1900.
