The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) recognized organization and individuals who were instrumental in promoting the arts in the Truckee Meadows region.
Those organizations and individuals from Greater Reno-Sparks were honored Sept 14 at the EDAWN Arts & Business Luncheon and Awards held at the Eldorado Resort Casino.
Those honored were:
Microenterprise Company Award (6 or fewer employees)-Laxalt & McIver
Small Company Award (7-49 employees)-Bergdahl Associates, Inc.
Medium Company Award (50-299 employees)-Whitney Peak Hotel
Large Company Award (300+ employees)- Switch
Leadership Award-Cony Linarez, Plaza Maya
Advocate Award-Francine Burge, City of Sparks
Lifetime Achievement Award-Nettie Oliverio, Myself Consulting
Excellence in Arts Business Management Award-Note-Able Music Therapy Services
The event was held in partnership with the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Sierra Arts Foundation, and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) to recognize local businesses and individuals in Greater Reno-Sparks that have demonstrated exceptional support and engagement with the local arts and culture community. More than 30 entrees were submitted and over 400 local business representatives, government leaders, and individuals in the arts community attended the event.

We are very fortunate that Greater Reno-Sparks has the support of so many who are passionate about and understand the positive impact arts and culture have on our community," said Mike Kazmierski, President and CEO of EDAWN. "In our world of economic development we whole-heartedly support a thriving arts and culture presence and the important role it plays in our efforts to attract new businesses and workforce to our region."
