Douglas County businesses presented Spotlight Awards

Six Douglas County businesses were honored with Spotlight Awards at the Douglas County Business Council’s Critical Issues Conference held on Sept. 28. Those given Spotlight awards were: Retail Spotlight: The Chocolate Shoppe Entrepreneur Spotlight: Sanchez Meats Manufacturing Spotlight: Aspen Coffee Restaurant Spotlight: JT Basque Restaurant Bar and Dining Room Sports & Recreation Spotlight: Axelson Tactical Business & Professional Service Spotlight: Heritage Law Group, Cassandra Jones Tourism & Hospitality Spotlight: Edgewood Tahoe Special recognition was given to the Douglas County Business Council for its 25 years of service to Douglas County. Businesses were selected based on the following eligible criteria: uniqueness and marketability, involvement in the community or business community, investing in their businesses, exhibited ability to partner with public and/or non-profit sector, developed or refined their business plans, as well as taking steps to provide employee training or growth opportunities. Each winner received an engraved lantern with a glowing flameless candle symbolic of keeping the Economic Vitality torch lit in creating a “Community to Match the Scenery.” The Business Council was presented a silver ribbon.
