The Carson Chamber Singers, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, will begin rehearsals on Sept. 11 for fall concerts.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. under the direction of Michael Langham at the Choral Room in Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

The first concert, “Choral Masterpieces,” will include works by Schubert, Handel, Randall Thompson, and Gabriel Fauré.

The concert will also honor the birth of one of the first American conductors to receive worldwide acclaim, Leonard Bernstein, in his 100th anniversary year.

Beginning its 34th season, the Carson Chamber Singers is open to high school age and above.

“We have specific openings for men — tenors and basses, but all are welcome to apply to join,” said Director Michael Langham.

Carson Chamber Singers is supported in part by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by private donations.
