Mouryne Dini services set for Sept. 22

Services are set Sept. 22 for Mouryne Landing Dini, longtime chief clerk of the Nevada Assembly and wife of Speaker Joe Dini.

She died Aug. 30 in Carson City.

Dini was chief clerk of the Nevada Assembly from 1973-1995 working under both Republican and Democratic leadership before retiring from the post.

She was born in February 1928 in Salt Lake City but grew up in Ashland, Oregon, graduating from Ashland High with honors at age 16.

She married Del Landing in 1947 and the couple with their two daughters moved to Nevada in 1963.

She worked for the state’s Central Data Processing Division before she was hired by the Nevada Legislature, becoming chief clerk of the Assembly in 1973.

Four years after her husband Del passed, she married Joe Dini, who served as speaker of the Assembly through eight legislative sessions including much of her tenure as chief clerk. After Joe’s death, she moved from the couple’s home in Yerington to Carson City, then into the Carson Plaza Independent Living Community in 2016.

The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 306 Musser St.
