Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels: They are truly pioneers

Silver Dollars and Wooden Nickels is a weekly feature in the Appeal’s Opinion pages in which the Appeal gives Silver Dollars to those who deserve recognition and occasionally a Wooden Nickel to those who deserve criticism.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson City’s Aquasyn, LLC which has been announced as among the Pioneer Award winners by the Northern Nevada Development Authority. Aquasyn is the Silver Forge Award winner. Also the Nevada Builders Alliance will present its annual Golden Hammer Award to Bently Heritage Estate Distillery of Minden.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson City’s Tom Spencer for being recognized as the September Veteran of the Month by the Nevada Department of Veteran Services and to Jim Forbus for being recognized as Veteran Supporter of the Month.

SILVER DOLLAR: To all those involved for making today a great day in Carson City, which included a community garage sale and skateboard and scooter competition. Also to the Carson Animals Service Initiative for sponsoring the Pooch Plunge.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson Nursing and Rehabiliation Center of Carson City for being one of six Nevada nursing homes to be recognized by the Nevada Health Care Association.
