The Washoe County Assessor’s Office will be mailing annual assessment notices to all property owners on or before Dec. 18.

Chief Deputy Assessor Cori Burke is reminding taxpayers of the office’s “open-door policy,” according to a Nov. 30 press statement — if you believe the valuation of your home or business is unfair, contact the assessor’s office at 775-328-2233.

“There is no charge to review your record and no need to pay anyone for representation,” according to the statement. “With current property tax abatements in place, many times a reduction in assessed value will not result in a reduction in property taxes. The assessor’s staff is available to answer any questions or concerns and to guide you through the appeal process if necessary.”
