First Independent Bank, in partnership with Southern Nevada’s Bank of Nevada, is hosting a virtual event, “Succession Planning, How to Prepare & Value Your Business,” on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 2 p.m.

Panelists will offer their insights and personal knowledge "to help guide business owners on how to monetize and prepare their business for valuation and what characteristics to look for in a potential buyer,” according to a May 17 press release.

Together, the panelists offer a combined 75 years of experience in business succession planning success.

Jim DeVolld, managing director of commercial banking for First Independent Bank, will serve as moderator.

“Many business owners put years or decades of work into making their business a success,” DeVolld said in a statement. “Perhaps some of those same owners, who have worked so hard building their business, have given little thought about what happens when they want to retire, sell their business or move on to new challenges.”

Panelists will include:

  • James Main, CPA, CCIFP, CEPA, Principal, Real Estate & Construction, CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP
  • Katrina Loftin, CBI, M&AMI, Co-founder/Managing Partner, M&A Business Advisors
  • Roe Belzer, Vice President, Portfolio Management, Bank of Nevada

According to the release, if time permits, a limited number of questions can be submitted to the panelists via the moderators.

The virtual event is free to any business owner, though registration is required. Attendees may sign up here.
