People: Sarah Patton new librarian, archivist for Nevada Historical Society

The Nevada Historical Society has chosen Sarah Patton as its new librarian and archivist.

Patton comes to Reno from the Hoover Institution Library & Archives at Stanford University, where she was the research services manager. She began the position on Jan. 3.


“We are excited to have Sarah join our team,” Catherine Magee, Nevada Historical Society director, said in a Jan. 4 press release. “Our museum is dedicated to preserving artifacts, photographs, manuscripts and other materials related to Nevada and the West. Sarah will enhance our ability to make these materials available to researchers and the public.”


Patton holds a master’s degree in library science with a concentration in archives, records and information management from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, San Diego.


The Nevada Historical Society, at 1650 N. Virginia St. in Reno, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and by appointment Thursdays and Fridays.
