State awards tax abatements to 6 companies to invest $164 million

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development has approved tax abatements for six companies totaling $16.2 million.
In return, those companies are required to invest $164 million in capital improvements, create 750 new jobs and pay an average hourly wage of $25.17.
Gov. Steve Sisolak said those companies will also generate $147.2 million in new tax revenue over the next decade.
GOED Executive Director Michael Brown said the companies include major manufacturers moving to Nevada that will continue to diversify the state’s economy.
Haas Automation was approved for abatements for its new plant in Clark County. Its main product line consists of CNC machine tools. That company alone will create 500 of the new jobs in two years and is expected to employ as many as 1,400 people in five years. Haas will also make $100 million in capital investment in the first two years of operation.
Airgas Safety will create 55 new jobs and invest $3.6 million in Southern Nevada. The company is a leading national supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases as well as welding goods and products.
ENTEK Manufacturing designs and manufactures systems for energy storage and products made with recycled plastics. The company will locate in Clark County and receive $1 million in tax abatements while creating 53 jobs in two years. The company will invest $10.8 million in the first two years and generate $5.7 million in new tax revenue over the next decade.
Stellar Snacks in Washoe County makes snacks and is expanding its operations to receive $1.8 million in abatements. The company will create 58 new jobs and offer an average hourly wage of $28.32. The company will invest $23.4 million in two years and generate $12.3 million in tax revenue.
Western Ceramics is a subsidiary of Lilac Solutions, a leading lithium extraction technology company focusing on developing technology to produce lithium products. The company will invest $25.1 million in Nevada and start with 24 jobs, growing to 86 jobs in five years. It will generate $8.3 million in new tax revenues over the coming decade.
Finally, Society Manufacturing produces and distributes cosmetic products. Operating in Clark County, the company will create 60 jobs in the first two years at an average hourly wage of $25.50.
