The Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce announces the return of Alliance, an annual community event held in partnership with the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA), Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA), and special guest Southwest Airlines.

Alliance, first launched in 2018, that was conceived as a collaborative effort between the Reno+Sparks Chamber, RTAA, RSCVA, and the EDAWN. In its original form, Alliance was focused on forging connections among businesses, nonprofit organizations, and industries through an ‘exhibition-driven’ format, with each of the four participating entities encouraging people in their spheres of influence to attend and connect.

Fast-forward four years, and the landscape has shifted away from an exposition format and toward a focus on thought leadership and collaboration. Rather than creating space for people to host booths, the Chamber seeks to create a space for people to hear about the realities, initiatives, insights, and trends that are shaping our community.

“The Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to again hold our Alliance event,” said Ann Silver, CEO of the Reno+Sparks Chamber in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating what happens when organizations collaborate for the betterment of our community: its residents, the many visitors who come to our region, and the businesses that thrive because we are a destination and great place to live.”

Each of the four entities has a critical vantage point in identifying where our community is, and where it’s headed – and over the course of Alliance, we’ll hear a 15-minute presentation from each of them, providing updates and insights to inform our community and professional work.

Mike Kazmierski, CEO of EDAWN and an Alliance presenter, notes the timeliness of the event given current events.

Alliance is a great partnership event that provides key perspectives on the economy and business activity from the top four business organizations in the region. This perspective, and the need to cooperate regionally, is especially important to all businesses in the area in light of the current economic conditions globally and the impending general election,” Kazmierski said in a statement.

Charles Harris, CEO of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and another Alliance presenter, believes this partnership – and the relationships that result – will be key in the region’s future development.

“The success of our community hinges on partnerships represented by the annual Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce Alliance event. Personal connections and professional growth help us build relationships that will shape the future of Northern Nevada industry and foster a sustainable culture of collaboration and progress throughout the destination.”

Similarly, Daren Griffin, CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, sees initiatives like Alliance as a key part in the continued vitality of our region – specifically, the connectivity that makes Reno-Sparks a sought-after tourist destination.

“We’re excited to be a part of the future of northern Nevada and invest in partnerships in the region, especially with the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce,” said Daren Griffin, CEO of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “The region continues to attract more businesses, residents and tourists with people wanting to explore and enjoy what our region has to offer, and that’s thanks to relationships and events like Alliance that help keep our growing economy strong.”

Dave Harvey, Vice President of Southwest Business – the corporate travel arm of Southwest Airlines – will be on hand to deliver opening remarks at Alliance, speaking to the distinctives that set our region apart as a premier destination.

The event is open to the public, with the purchase of a ticket or table, and is scheduled for Nov. 2, 2022 at The Elm Estate in Reno. Doors open at 8:15 a.m., with the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Breakfast and refreshments will be provided by Roundabout Catering.
