Wood Rodgers, Inc., announces the promotion of four employees within the Reno office: Justin McDougal, Michael Detwiler, Eric Ford, and Diane Arkell.

McDougal has been promoted to partner and principal engineer. McDougal has over 14 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and construction quality control. He has been with Wood Rodgers for eight years and is thoroughly familiar with local and regional testing, inspection and geotechnical requirements.

McDougal’s geotechnical engineering and construction background provides for a better global understanding of projects and allows for creative and cost-effective solutions to common and unique issues that are inherent with complex projects.

Michael Detwiler

Detwiler has been promoted to principal surveyor. Detwiler has been in the surveying and geospatial field for 23 years, with the majority of those years specializing in aerial mapping, LiDAR, and photogrammetry.

His work experience has taken him to 31 states and 12 countries, with projects ranging from transmission power line LiDAR mapping, oblique cityscape photogrammetry modelling, and unmanned aerial systems mapping at mines.

Detwiler is skilled in the capture, processing, and analysis of accurate geospatial data, helping Wood Rodgers lead the industry in UAS applications for mining, commercial and residential land development, and many other uses which this technology lends itself to. Detwiler is a Certified Photogrammetrist, Certified Mapping Scientist, a Licensed Land Surveyor, and an FAA certified Remote UAS pilot.

Eric Ford

Ford has been promoted to associate project GIS Analyst. With over two decades of experience in GIS, Ford is adept at analyzing and representing spatial information in a user-friendly format.

Since 2003, he has used GIS in both public and private sectors. In the field, Ford has conducted data collection using GPS and mobile devices for environmental and transportation projects.

In the office, he manages extensive GIS data sets, leverages Python programming to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows, and creates detailed maps for a variety of clients.

Arkell has been promoted to associate senior project coordinator. With an impressive 40-year career in the construction industry, Arkell has dedicated 15 of those years to contributing to the success of Wood Rodgers.

Arkell consistently demonstrates excellence in her role, providing support to project managers. Her expertise in project budgeting and her innovative approaches to improving project reporting have enhanced project efficiency.

Additionally, Arkell plays a crucial role in assisting the geotechnical department by effectively organizing and importing the substantial volume of field data.
