A collaborative effort between public and private entities combined to donate two welding trucks to the Churchill County High School Agriculture Mechanics program allowing students to increase their learning of various trade skills.
CCHS ag students Jackson Barbee, Alex Bacallo and Madison Gregory accepted the donation on Tuesday morning at the County Road Department.
The two trucks were donated by the County’s Road Department and outfitted with new tires from Tedford Tire. The Churchill County School District bought the welding equipment and the Road Department mounted it onto the trucks.
The trucks will provide opportunities for students to learn welding techniques needed to keep farm equipment in working order which is the main goal of the ag mechanics program at the high school. Students will also have to learn to drive a manual transmission as both trucks are stick-shift.
