Nevadans are eager to celebrate the dads and other important men in their lives this Father’s Day.
Spending on gifts is expected to reach record highs, with consumers across the Silver State projected to spend a record $392.6 million on outings, clothing and other gifts, according to the Retail Association of Nevada.
Nationally, Father’s Day shopping is also expected to set a new benchmark, with total spending projected to reach $24 billion. Over three quarters of Americans plan to celebrate the holiday, with an average spend of $199 per person, according to a survey by the National Retail Federation.
Greeting cards remain the most common Father’s Day gift, with 58% of celebrants expected to purchase one, contributing to an estimated $15.3 million in spending across Nevada.
Clothing follows closely with 55% of consumers planning purchases, while 53% intend to mark the occasion with a special outing. Gift cards also remain a popular choice, with 50% of shoppers opting for this flexible option.
Among the top spending categories for Nevadans are special outings at $78.8 million, clothing at $60.5 million, gift cards at $49.4 million and electronics at $42.6 million. Experience-based gifts and subscription boxes continue to gain traction, with 30% and 43% of consumers, respectively, planning to include them in their Father’s Day celebrations.
Nearly half of Americans report plans to buy a gift for a father or stepfather, while 25% intend to shop for a husband. Additional recipients include sons, brothers, friends and grandfathers.
Online shopping remains the preferred method for purchasing Father’s Day gifts, with 41% of consumers planning to shop online. Department stores continue at a strong second at 35%, followed by discount stores at 23%.
Specialty stores are expected to attract 22% of shoppers, with 19% turning to local and small businesses and 15% visiting specialty clothing stores.
