GCW announces Carl C. deBaca has joined the company as a supervising land surveyor in its Reno office.

C. deBaca brings more than three decades of surveying expertise to GCW, with extensive experience in municipal surveying, land development mapping, mine surveying, and post-wildfire monument recovery.

In his new role, he will lead the oversight of large-scale right-of-way and topographic mapping projects for a variety of clients across Northern Nevada.

Over the course of his career, he has prepared and recorded more than 290 maps, including final maps, parcel maps, and records of survey throughout both Nevada and California.

Licensed as a professional land surveyor in Nevada since 1987 and in California since 1988, C. deBaca has also been active in the professional surveying community.

He is a past president of the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors and a former Area 9 Director for the National Society of Professional Surveyors, representing Hawaii, California and Nevada.

His editorial contributions include past roles as editor of California Surveyor and Nevada Traverse magazines. He is a three-time recipient of the NSPS Excellence in Journalism Award and currently contributes a regular column, Bad Backsights, to American Surveyor magazine.
