Ads woo California businesses
Economic development agencies including Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada and Northern Nevada Development Authority last week launched an ad campaign targeted specifically at California companies.
The advertising campaign with the dramatic tagline “You’re Out of Business” aims to draw businesses to Nevada.
The campaign ads cite facts: California workers’ compensation costs are 30-60 percent higher than Nevada’s; utilities costs are 28-36 percent more; and the Family Medical Leave Act ensures Nevada’s employees are back to work in three months, not seven.
Launched in partnership with the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada and Northern Nevada Development Authority, the ads urge business leaders to “Look hard at doing business in Nevada, or face the possibility of not doing business at all.” The ad offers a 24-hour turnaround response and a toll free number for confidential comparative cost assessments.
Concerned that a spate of COVID-19-related lawsuits could bankrupt businesses, members of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce implored the state’s congressional delegation during the chamber’s annual D.C. retreat to pass a federal liability protection measure.
