Barrick teams with UNR
Barrick Gold Corp. has teamed with the University of Nevada, Reno, to create a leadership development program.
The classes, which began in October and run through March, were developed by the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, the College of Business and UNR Extended Studies. Most classes have been in Elko.
The program provided training for 23 mid-level managers and supervisors with Barrick, said Jim McClenahan, director of management and executive programs for the University’s Extended Studies.
“The thing that I like most about entrepreneurship is I can work toward something that I’m passionate about and be at the forefront of the change that I want to see happen,” said Priyanka Senthil, a senior at Davidson Academy in Reno and co-founder of startup company AUesome.
