Charlton Northington has been promoted to convention manager at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
Northington had been acting general manager of the 500,000-square-foot facility since October.
He joined the RSCVA in 2000 as event services manager and was promoted to assistant general manager of the convention center in 2002. He also has held marketing and event coordination positions for Celebrity Attractions Inc. in Tulsa, Okla., and the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center in Texas.
Northington earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in public relations from Texas Tech University.
“I point out many cases of where privately owned companies do just as bad a job as publicly owned companies,” says Reno resident and former teacher Robert (R.D.) Gardner.
