EDAWN to receive grant from U.S. Department of Commerce
The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada’s (EDAWN) Entrepreneurial Department will receive a grant of $300,000 over a three-year period from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that 42 organizations, including nonprofits, institutions of higher education, and entrepreneurship from 28 states will receive more than $17 million in grant money. There were ,more than applicants from across the country for the grant program.
The grant money will be used to used to create and expand cluster-focused proof-of-concept and commercialization programs and early stage seed capital funds through the Economic Development Administrations’s (EDA) Regional Innovation Strategies program.
Concerned that a spate of COVID-19-related lawsuits could bankrupt businesses, members of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce implored the state’s congressional delegation during the chamber’s annual D.C. retreat to pass a federal liability protection measure.
