EP Minerals LLC, an industrial minerals company headquartered in Reno, said last week it opened a new perlite filtration media plant in Blair, Neb.
Perlite is a naturally-occurring volcanic glass that has entrapped moisture. When it’s subjected to rapid and intense heat, it expands to form perlite filtration media.
It’s used for filtration of water, pharmaceuticals, food, wine and other beverages as well applications in construction, landscaping, and biofuel production.
