Funding approved for airport projects
The U.S. Department of Transportation approved grants for work at rural airports across northern Nevada, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid said last week. The projects to be funded include:
Reno-Stead Airport: $337,500 for design of a project to rehabilitate a taxiway and $300,000 for purchase of snow-removal equipment.
Carson City Airport: $1.38 million for rehabilitation of the airport’s apron.
Winnemucca Municipal Airport: $234,375 to acquire land for approaches, $75,000 to update the airport’s master plan, and $99,375 to install perimeter fencing.
Hawthorne Industrial Airport: $2.7 million for rehabilitation of the apron.
Jackpot/Hayden Field: $75,000 to update the airport’s master plan.
With median home prices topping $500,000 in Reno and nearly $520,000 in Minden/Gardnerville, 2021 is shaping up to be quite the sellers’ market for Northern Nevada. As for housing supply, that’s another story, reports the NNBW’s Kaleb M. Roedel.
